It turns out Google security measures are a bit half-baked, at least when it comes to GBP Pins. The problem is that literally anyone, with the slightest effort, can reposition the location pin of your Google Business Profile, tanking your rankings in the process until you reposition it.

This exploit can really hurt businesses, especially if their competitors don’t shy away from a bit of black hat SEO tactics. To make matters worse, Google doesn’t automatically notify you when your pin is moved, so the issue can easily go unnoticed unless you check for it yourself.
